Why Professionals
Consider the UAE

The UAE remains among the largest employment markets for Indian professionals and skilled workers. Six features of the market account for this.

Proximity

Short flights to most Indian cities and a limited time difference, allowing regular contact with family.

No Personal Income Tax

Employment income is not subject to personal income tax, though cost of living varies considerably by emirate.

Established Indian Community

A long-established community across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, with familiar schooling and services.

Breadth of Sectors

Demand across construction, technology, healthcare, logistics, finance, hospitality and professional services.

Family Sponsorship

Residents meeting the applicable salary conditions may sponsor a spouse and children.

Long-Term Options

Green and Golden Residence categories offer multi-year residence independent of a single employer.

Work and Residence
Categories

The UAE distinguishes between the work permit, which authorises employment, and the residence visa, which authorises you to live in the country. Most categories provide both.

Employer-Led

Employment Work Permit

The standard route for overseas workers. The employer applies for the work permit, registers the labour contract and sponsors the residence visa.

Free Zone

Free Zone Employment

Companies established within a free zone sponsor their own employees under that zone's authority, following a comparable but separately administered process.

Self-Sponsored

Green Residence

A longer-term residence category for qualifying skilled professionals, freelancers, investors and other eligible groups, held independently of an employer.

Self-Sponsored

Golden Residence

A long-term residence category for eligible investors, entrepreneurs, specialised talent and other qualifying groups, renewable subject to continuing eligibility.

Remote Work

Virtual Work Residence

For eligible individuals employed by an organisation outside the UAE who satisfy the applicable income and documentation requirements.

Exploration

Job Exploration Entry

Visit and job-exploration permits allow eligible candidates to enter and seek employment. Entry permission does not constitute permission to commence work.

How the Process
Operates

For employer-sponsored roles, the employer carries the regulatory obligations. Four elements determine how the process runs and what the candidate controls.

The Employer Applies

The work permit is applied for by the employer, not the candidate. Securing the right offer is therefore the decisive stage.

Labour Contract

The offer and contract are registered with the relevant authority, and the terms must match what was offered.

Medical and Emirates ID

A medical fitness test and Emirates ID registration are completed after entry, before residence is finalised.

Tied to Employment

Employer-sponsored residence ends with the employment. Green and Golden Residence are held independently.

Our Process

Because the employer initiates the permit, our work concentrates on positioning the profile and reaching organisations able to sponsor.

01

Profile Evaluation

Assess qualifications and experience against market expectations.

02

Opportunity Research

Identify sectors, emirates and organisations relevant to the profile.

03

Profile Marketing

Position the CV for UAE hiring conventions and documentation norms.

04

Employer Outreach

Approach organisations able to sponsor and initiate the permit.

05

Decision

The employer files and the relevant authority decides.

Entry Permission Is
Not Permission
to Work

A recurring and costly misunderstanding is that arriving on a visit or job-exploration permit allows employment to begin. It does not. Work may only start once the permit is issued and the residence process completed. We set the sequence out clearly at the outset and concentrate on securing the offer that makes the rest possible.

Questions About UAE Employment?

Answers on work permits, residence categories, changing employers, family sponsorship and tax.

The work permit authorises employment with a specific employer. The residence visa authorises you to live in the UAE. For employer-sponsored roles the employer arranges both, and the residence visa is tied to that employment. Self-sponsored categories such as Green and Golden Residence are held independently of any employer.
Eligible candidates may enter under applicable visit or job-exploration arrangements, but entry permission does not constitute permission to commence employment. Work may only begin once a work permit has been issued and the residence process completed. Starting work before that point carries serious consequences.
Green Residence is a longer-term residence category available to qualifying skilled professionals, freelancers, investors and other eligible groups. Its principal feature is that it is not tied to an employer, so the holder may change employment without the residence lapsing. Eligibility criteria apply to each category.
Golden Residence is a long-term residence category for eligible investors, entrepreneurs, individuals of specialised talent and other qualifying groups. It is renewable subject to continuing eligibility and is self-sponsored. The criteria differ significantly between categories and should be assessed against your specific circumstances.
Changing employer requires a new work permit and the involvement of both the outgoing and incoming employer, following the applicable transfer process. This differs from Green and Golden Residence, where the holder's status does not depend on a particular employer.
Residents meeting the applicable salary and accommodation conditions may sponsor a spouse and children, with schooling and healthcare arranged separately. Entitlement is not automatic and the conditions are revised periodically, so this should be confirmed against your specific package before relocating.
Employment income is not subject to personal income tax. This is frequently cited as the principal financial advantage of the market, though it should be weighed against accommodation, schooling and healthcare costs, which are borne privately and vary considerably by emirate.
Generally not. UAE naturalisation is exceptional and granted by nomination in limited circumstances rather than through a residency qualifying period. Residence categories should be understood as long-term residence rather than a settlement pathway, which distinguishes the UAE from Canada or Australia.
